Orthodontics is the branch of Dentistry that deals with correction of tooth and jaw mal-positions, in children and adults, thereby, improving esthetics along with function.Department of Orthodontics at H. P. Government Dental College & Hospital Shimla meets the needs of education at undergraduate and postgraduate level, patient care and research in field of Orthodontics. MDS in orthodontics has started in 2006 with intake capacity of two students, one each for All India and State quota. Department is treating malocclusion and Dentofacial deformity with the help of removable, fixed and orthopedics appliances to provide esthetic and functional balance to Dentofacial region. Department is actively involved in management of deformity caused in Cleft Lip and Palate patients in collaboration of Plastic Surgery Department.
